Meet Susan
From watchmaker to brand owner
The beginning, Alku
After graduating from Kelloseppäkoulu I gained employment with Tag Heuer in Manchester, UK, where I fostered my craft and skills as a watchmaker before transferring to Sydney, Australia In 2013.
In 2016 I began working for OMEGA, where I gained accreditation to service a range of mechanical movements. I had the privilege of visiting OMEGA Headquarters in Biel, Switzerland on a number of occasions to undertake professional training.
Unfortunately in early 2020, I was made redundant whilst on maternity leave with my first child, however, this moment of seeming adversity inspired me to establish Galvin Watch Company.
I ran a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and Indiegogo raising over $125,000 in 60 days. This enabled me to purchase my first stock order and bring the Alku Collection to life.

The second collection, Loimu, "a blaze".

2021 brought many challenges, namely being isolated from family and the arrival of our second child. It was also a time for reflection. Whilst contemplating the company's next design, I reminisced about Finland and the place that I grew up. My memories of the aurora borealis became the inspiration for the Loimu Collection. The watches pay homage to my Northern Finnish heritage. The influence of the landscape and beautiful dancing waves of light can be observed in the design of the guilloché style dial.
We launched the collection on Kickstarter, where 157 backers enabled us to bring the collection to life.
