Meet Susan
From Watchmaker to Founder: The Journey of Galvin Watch Company
Galvin Watch Company, based in Sydney, Australia, is a family-owned business led by watchmaker Susan Galvin. Inspired by her upbringing in Finnish Lapland, Susan's deep connection to the natural world influences the brand's identity. Combining Nordic minimalist design with the vibrant landscapes of her heritage, Galvin watches reflect a unique blend of aesthetics and functionality.
Susan's journey into watchmaking began with her enrollment at Kelloseppäkoulu (The Finnish School of Watchmaking) in 2007. Her passion for design and mechanics blossomed during this time, culminating in the creation of a bespoke mechanical watch gifted to her father. This experience ignited her dream of establishing her own watch brand.
After graduating, Susan honed her skills at Tag Heuer in Manchester, UK, before relocating to Sydney in 2013. Joining OMEGA in 2016, she gained valuable expertise in servicing mechanical movements and underwent professional training at OMEGA Headquarters in Biel, Switzerland.
Despite facing redundancy in early 2020 while on maternity leave, Susan's resilience led her to found Galvin Watch Company. Through a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, she raised over $125,000 in just 60 days. This initial support enabled her to launch the Alku Collection, marking the beginning of Galvin Watch Company's journey in the watchmaking industry.

Suvi Collection: Celebrating the Essence of a Finnish Summer
Galvin Watch Company proudly presents its third collection, Suvi, featuring a tonneau-shaped case and a premium range of automatic movements. Designed by industry-accredited watchmaker Susan Galvin, this collection pays homage to her Finnish heritage. Every piece in the Suvi Collection is meticulously designed, assembled, and tested in our Sydney workshop.
Inspired by the enchanting Finnish summer, the Suvi Collection (with "Suvi" translating to "summer") offers six stunning colour options. It evokes the idyllic warmth of Finnish summer days, where cherished memories are made by tranquil lakesides, under the canopy of birch trees, amidst laughter, and the simple pleasure of strawberry ice cream.
